Barn / Firehouse / Church (Practicing HDR's, feedback?)
Hi, just practicing making 3 image HDR's with Photomatix. I'm pretty green to this, I've done very few HDR's and am trying to get some practice in. Unfortunately, it was snowing pretty hard when I was trying to take these pics, so I apologize in advance for the snow in the photos (it's NOT dust on my sensor! LOL). Anyways, just looking for some feedback to see if you think I'm on the right track for a beginner.
BTW: I was not particularly concerned with composition, but more concerned with getting 3 shots and practicing the making of HDR's, thanks for looking and for any comments.

Really nice job, Mark! I think you've got it very close. I think you might have to add either a little contrast or, if you have adobe camera raw or lightroom, use the 'blacks' slider. You need just a little more contrast. Then you've got it!

Thanks for the feedback Mel.
To be honest, the original pics do have more color and contrast, but when I upload them to Flickr or Zenfolio, they seem to lose it a bit. Anyone know if this is common or a reason why it may be happening? I'm using an iMac and do my post processing in Nikon's NX2 if it matters.

My only suggestion would be to check your color profiles. If you are saving the files as sRGB, then that's fine. But if you're using Adobe 1998 or Pro photo color files, most browsers don't recognize those (hence the washed-out look). Just double-check your profiles.

Mel, thanks, I will try and check those profiles. In the meantime, I went back and added some contrast and saturation to the pics and posted them above. The sky in each might be a bit of a problem, but the colors seem to be a little better.
